Question by hulio: getting a 50 inch 720p or 42 inch 1080p?
Well i have a 32 inch lcd 720p poloroid tv. I want to upgrade. My choices are a plasma 50 inch samsung 720p or 42 inch lcd poloroid 1080p. the difference in price is around $ 200. am i going to be happy with a 8 inch difference for 1080p or is it worth it to get the 50 inch that’s only 720p?
I mostly would use this tv for video gaming and i sit about 6.5 feet away. i could get as far back as 17 feet. I really would like the 50 inch. because paying 600$ just for a 10 inch difference doesn’t seem worth it

Best answer:

Answer by Paul in San Diego
If you watch a lot of HD programming, you’ll much prefer the 42-inch 1080p. At 50 inches and lower resolution, the picture will be very noticeably degraded on the Samsung.

My advice for anyone wanting to know what kind of TV to get is to go look at them at a store that has them on display with the same programming on them.

BTW – Unless you’re watching those TVs from about 20 feet away, a 50-inch picture might be overkill and the 42-inch will be just fine for an average viewing distance of 10 to 15 feet.

Question by : Which of these 2 TVs will have better picture quality?
Vizio 32″ LCD 60 hz 1080p or Samsung 51″ plasma 600 hz 720p? The Samsung is much larger, plasma w/ much higher refresh rate, and only $ 50 more but is only 720p so I’m not sure. I will be using this TV for dramas, action, sports, and gaming.

Best answer:

Answer by mozzie
Samsung plasma, no doubt about it.

720p is not a big deal unless you’re watching blurays or high definition cable or satellite channels. Plasma TVs are made for action movies, sports, and video games. The 600hz is the motion control, thus eliminating any motion blur that would normally happen in those types of programs. 60hz on the Vizio is the lowest you can go. You would notice a lot of blurring.

Plus, Vizio isn’t nearly as good as Samsung. Samsung is top notch and Vizio is lower end. Another excellent plasma TV is a Panasonic.

Question by aballa247365: HELP ON BUYING A NEW TV?
ok im in the market of buying a second tv, and right now i have a 52inch lcd samsung 1080p hdtv, but im moving and that tv is going to the living room.. and i think a 42in or 46in is perfect for a bedroom. but idk weather to get this samsung 42in plasma hdtv for 469.99 or pay an extra hundred bucks and get a lcd tv. i play video games alot and watch only hd so can someone help weather i should get plasma n save money or pay the extra hundred bucks

Best answer:

Answer by The Phone geek
I would recommend you look at the Panasonic plasmas as they are the top rated right now.

Plasma all the way
better and deeper blacks
wider off angle viewing
awesome for fast motion-600Hz refresh rate while the top LCDs are only 240Hz
No burn in-on new plasmas-was a problem 5 years ago
they do use more power than the LCDs
The short life people are talking about equals about 10 years of watching. really who wont buy a new tv in 10 freaking years???

Right now the top Plasmas are made by Panasonic(according to Cnet, consumer reports and a few home video mags). Right now 50″ 1080p at best buy USA around 750 for the non 3d one and 2700 for the 3d model or 599 for the 50″ 720p. I own the 1080p one and love it and have not had any trouble out of it for 2 years

What do you think? Answer below!

Question by UF Gators: Should I upgrade to a 58 ” Panasonic Plasma P58S1 or keep my Samsung LCD LN52A550?
I currently own this TV….

http://www.amazon.com/Samsung-LN52A550-52-Inch-1080p-HDTV/dp/B001415EMI/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1265406995&sr=1-4

I was going to sell it and upgrade to this TV…

http://www.amazon.com/Panasonic-VIERA-TC-P58S1-58-Inch-Plasma/dp/B002IKA1S6/ref=sr_1_fkmr0_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1265406929&sr=1-1-fkmr0

Now, look at both TV’s…and tell me….would selling the LCD and spending $ 600 more, and buying the Plasma be worth it? Would the Plasma last me longer and would the picture look alot better? I watch alot of blu rays and sports, thats it. So all I care about is the best HD picture.

Also, rumor has it Panasonic Plasmas are having issues so Im taking that into consideration to.

Would getting the Plasma be worth it and give me a better picture?

Best answer:

Answer by kk6644k444
1 ) Plasma pictures quality always better , still the BEST display technologies to-day.
0 Response time ,600 HZ refresh rate well-suited for ” moving image ” especially for sports programs and fast action games. Excellent for color display , deep / True black also dark color.
2 ) Samsung manufactures quality / reliable LCD TV .
LN52A550 is STANDARD 52 inc LCD TV. 60 HZ refresh rate may make you eye uncomfortable because of ” motion blur “.
3 ) Panasonic is the only TV maker still invest and keen to continue Plasma technologies. ( Samsung full force to LED technologies ), Panasonic Viera TCP58S1 is 2009 models . use Panasonic and Pioneer new Plasma technologies ,life time is 60,000 hours.anti burn in circuit designs, easy burn in / over heating is not an issue any more, even long hours for games / still image.is also an Energy Star Qualified , ( of-course . the very NEW is Panasonic Z Series , life time is up to 100,000 hours, much lower power consumptions , but cost much more ).

http://www.reuters.com/article/idUST20102720070110

4 ) If you looking for BEST QUALITY. Plasma .
if you looking for Plasma, Panasonic for sure ! world best HD TV–Pioneer use the same Panasonic display panel and both share the same technologies. Top Quality and reliability Plasma . Prices too ( compare to hi end LCD TV and LED TV ) .non of any LCD TV able to compare Plasma quality. high prices LED TV able to come closers, but 2 X in prices .

I need a new TV.. I need a 52″ flat screen.. its for a room that has two huge windows so there is a lot of light coming in during the day.. I dont know if I should get a plasma or Lcd and what am I looking for 120hrz 1080p? what should i look for.. Can this be done for less then $ 1700

Best answer:

Answer by SI
If you have dark room and want it for watching notmal tv, sports, movies, plasma is a good choice. It have better picture quality and smoother motion than LCD.Plasma also have better price. You can get bigger size for same price as LCD.For your budget I would suggest Panasonic VIERA G10 Series TC-P54G10 54-Inch 1080p Plasma HDTV or Panasonic VIERA G10 Series TC-P50G10 50-Inch 1080p Plasma HDTV with a lot cheaper.

but if you have bright room and want it for gaming, LCD is a better choice for you.It does not suffer from glare and no burn-in problem, cooler running and less power consumption. This is a great brand and moder for your budget.
