1080p 60 hz LCD vs 720p 600 hz plasma…which to get?
Question by Sean H: 1080p 60 hz LCD vs 720p 600 hz plasma…which to get?
LG 42 inch 1080p LCD vs a 50 inch 720p plasma tv….whos the winner here?
1080p (4 ms) not an LED type — offfers higher resolution, but the colors arent as great and may cause slight motion blurr
plasma offers smoother motion flow, and richer colors but at the cost of being 720p.
i will run my 360 thru hdmi and also be getting a blu-ray player, both capable and looks fantastic on 1080p.
tought call….both are the same price, 42 inch vs 50 inch. plasma or lcd.
also, the LCD has VGA input, 4 hdmi inputs, a usb port (not sure what id use it for)
plasma has 2 hdmi, no vga, no usb. ive *heard* the burn in time on plasma tvs has increased a great deal as opposed to the earlier versions happening within 30 mins….not sure how accurate that is.

Get the 1080p LCD TV. LCD are great for gaming, while plasmas are susceptible to image burn-in. The graphics will stand out on an LCD in 1080p much better than a 720p plasma.
Go for the LG 1080p LCD.

Either is good, you honestly can’t go wrong.
I would say (if you can) go watch them side by side and see for yourself.
Sounds like the LCD has a few more bells and whistles, but it’s also a little smaller.
Burn in are no longer a problem. At worst the image “burns in” temporally, and you can fix it with a few hours of more use.

LCD every time.
Plasma all the way-Only thing Plasma Starts at 42″ and goes up
better and deeper blacks
wider off angle viewing
awesome for fast motion-600Hz refresh rate while the top LCDs/LEDs are only 240Hz-Best for gaming and sports watching
No burn in-on new plasmas-was a problem 5 years ago
they do use more power than the LCDs-But really if you cant afford the possible 3-5 bucks a month in and increase in your power bill-You do not need to be buying a big tv to begin with.
The short life people are talking about equals about 10-15 years of watching. really who wont buy a new tv in 10 freaking years???
Right now the top Plasmas are made by Panasonic(according to Cnet, consumer reports and a few home video mags). Right now 50″ 1080p ( i own this one and the 65″ version) at best buy USA around 899 for the 50″ 720p is 599
LED tvs are just a LCD with a LED back light instead of Florissant tubes!!!!!!!!!!
LED tvs ARE JUST LCD with different backlighting they still suffer all the drawbacks of LCD but are just brighter
