they say the eye can barley tell the difference between 1080 p and 720 p in tv’s 32″ and less….but if you’re getting one 32″ and above then 1080 is the way to go…..

dont know much about plasmas, other than that they have some black out problem or something, or like a burn in?? prob not good for gaming….

LCD’s are good, and LED’s are just LCD’s with a different backlight (instead of some light bulb that uses mercury to light it, LED lights are used)

I hear LED tv’s save a lot of energy, and may even look a little better……it’s still relatively new technolgy though, but seems to be maturing at a rapid weight.

If trends go the way they are going, then LED’s will prob become the new standard, although they once predicted years and years ago that LCD’s would never really make it….but that’s when they were like 10 G’s for a LCD tv……..

larger LCD’s probably need 120hz, or 240hz, they even come in 480hz for the refresh rate? but smaller ones should be ok in 60hz.

for gaming, make sure you get one that has a refresh response time of 5ms or less……hear that’s the way to go
