First HDTV

I knew I wanted a samsung HDTV because I have heard great things from friends who know more about technology than I do. I have not been disappointed in the least with my purchase. The tv has great sound and picture quality both in dark/dim lighting as well as in a sun drenched room. The tv is in a bedroom which it is a perfect size for. It was easy set up, I did it alone. The box does say to have two people work on it but definitely possible to do alone if no one is around and you are impatient. For set up you will need a Phillips head screw driver. The only downside which has nothing to do with the tv directly was that fedex left the package on my front stoop when I was not home and it comes in a factory box with a picture of the tv on the box, just something to be cautious of if you order this product.
Great TV, a Bit Complex Though

This was my first adventure into HDTV and LCD TV's, but I'm a technology buff, so advanced tech doesn't scare me (I actually enjoy it). My first impressions with this TV were the great resolution while watching Blu-ray movies (what I really think these screens are good for) and that the comments about HD shows and their "flawed" personalities was right on (ha!) I've connected the TV to a cable box and Sony Blue Ray player - so now I have three big remotes that all do different things. I'm considering a universal remote to solve this problem. I don't understand why the TV plays a tune when turning on and off and I can't find in the manual how to stop this from happening. The internet options look interesting, though I've only tried YouTube so far. YouTube videos play, but they look really poor because of the compression put on them and they don't have the same controls that are available on the web site. Standard cable TV doesn't look very good either because of the quality of the signal. Those old channels were much clearer on my old "tube" TV than with this new one. I mostly stay in the HD channels because of it. Most of these complaints have nothing to do with the Samsung TV and that's why I gave it 5 stars anyway. I just want any new HDTV folks to not be surprised by the quality of standard programming.
Great TV

I am nothing but pleased with this TV. It's sharp, clear, bright, and really good looking to boot.

I have it hooked up to a Mac Mini and setup and connection between the two was very easy.

This TV was listed locally for $650. The Amazon.com sale price ($499) could not be beat at the time.

I highly recommend this TV.
Great HDTV!

Overall, I am very happy with my new Samsung HDTV. Amazon had the best price at the time of purchase, along with free shipping and no sales tax.
Supports lots of video formats on its usb functionality!

Reviewer: Rea,
this is my 2nd samsung lcd (1st was 32b530), and the usb functionality is a great improvement.

this model can play lots of video format
- avi
- mkv
- asf
- mp4
- 3gp
- etc..

my unit was also dead on arrival, that's why im giving this a 4 star. tv would not turn on. no power. no lights on the power led. amazon replaced the unit and the replacement was perfect. i guess this is not a problem with amazon since the product was still factory sealed.

nice aesthetics. picture and color was great. perfect for my ps3 gaming and bluray watching.

watch out for defects, other than that, this is a great hdtv!

After two weeks: We are on a cable box so the instruction manual to accommodate same isn't easy to follow unless you have a teenager who can breeze through such things!
Setting up the connections is very simple and intuitive. BUT had a tough time getting the closed captions to appear and I'm still wondering why some of them are missing when the character is speaking and it is not just because there is a lag.
Adjusting the picture is ongoing for me because I'm not happy with the preponderance of darkness in some of the pictures.
The picture is crisp but when a pan takes place the edges blur a bit.
Would I send it back? NO! Compared to the 15 year old 27" Panasonic it replaced (for the same price I paid in 1995!) I am happy to have such a great picture.
Good one

I got this TV on June 3rd 2010. Easy to install. Its working very well as of today. HD picture quality is amazing. Sound is not bad. I play movies and videos from my external hard drive(using usb 2.0). Its user friendly. On a whole, its a nice TV.
Good purchase

I decided on this purchase after doing some basic research on my current tv needs and I decided on this Samsung 1080p HDTV. I am pleased with the purchase that was made considering that it is replacing an old tv we had. I made the purchased about three weeks ago and the set-up was fairly easy. The purchase was made to go in our bedroom. I definitely would recommend this product. The price was right considering the price at other stores to be much higher.
very nice tv, but watch out for defects

The first one of these I received was dead on arrival - it simply wouldn't turn on. The standby power light didn't even come on when it was plugged in. A call to Samsung confirmed it was defective.

Amazon was great about picking it up and sending a replacement for Saturday delivery, but it was still extremely disappointing.

The replacement set works great. Beautiful, bright picture with a good viewing angle and decent sound. I recommend it, if you don't mind rolling the dice on getting a defective set.
Quit working

The TV was great while it worked. However it went to "black" the first week and we called Samsung, who had us UPS the new TV to them for repair. I spent a lot of money on a TV to not be able to watch it!
