Excellent idea. Almost excellent implementation

This unit is a little clunky looking, but I installed it on a wall in my kitchen to hold a 24" television. The good news: the arm could be just about perfect for its intended use. The TV can be seen from all angles in our (fairly) large kitchen and even in the dining room (because the mount allows such a large swivel range). The bad news: the mount has trouble staying stable on the wall. It is not overloaded with weight from the TV (according to its design specs), yet the base "slides" around a little on the wall when I move the TV on the articulating arm.

Despite this, my contractors claim the wall mount is well made and easy to install (in comparison with others). We had the benefit of building studs into the wall to hold the unit in exactly the desired position. I did this aspect of the install with my general contractor before we put sheet rock over the studs, and it was fairly straightforward. We hung the TV on the mount and then positioned it on the wall. I hung the TV (on the mount) in advance of the arm install because the arm "sags" (due to the weight of the device) so it is better to determine the mount position with the full weight of the unit on the mounting device.

4 stars because we really like the functionality the arm provides. The only way to get the fifth star would be to eliminate my mounting stability problem.
